Elizabeth “Betty” Myers Edwards, 98, of Indianapolis, died on July 21, 2010. She was born December 29, 1911 in Greenwood, IN to William E. and Effie Myers. Betty was a graduate of Franklin College and a member of Pi Beta Phi. Betty was an accomplished musician who studied with Arthur Hansen when she was only 12 years old. Her mother and father had the only player piano in Greenwood. Betty certainly reflected a deep love for Second Presbyterian Church and its people, for the number of service hours she’s given throughout her long membership is truly staggering. Her activities include being an elder at Second Presbyterian Church, P.W. Moderator, Bazaar Chairman three times, Presbyterian Women’s presidency, teaching Sunday School, directing children’s music, choir participation and piano and organ performances. Betty was presented with the Recognition Award from Indiana Women’s Prison for contributing her time, effort and talent to the volunteer program for the Indiana Women’s Prison. She married Harry E. Jennings on May 1, 1937. She married Ray C. Norton on March 10, 1962 and was widowed February 4, 1972. Following Ray’s death, she married Albert Lawrence Edwards on October 15, 1977. She is survived by son, Harry E. Jennings, Jr.; nephew, Ray Ehrensberger, niece, Betty Ann Ehrensberger Khateeb, and nephew John Myers of Greenwood. She is preceded in death by brother, Lawrence Wesley Myers and sister, Helen Ehrensberger. A memorial service to celebrate Betty’s life will be announced at a later date.
