Beneta Jane Harshman, 85 of Indianapolis passed away June 11, 2010. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Alice ( Cox) Kemp. She attended DePauw University and she graduated from Stephens College and Indiana University, Bloomington with a Degree in History. She worked as a Home Economist for Kemp Brothers Packing Company( originator of pasteurized tomato juice) and also as a receptionist for Habegger and Price, PA.
Beneta was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, Delta Gamma Sorority, Crooked Creek Gardening Club, Sowers Gardening Club and she was a volunteer for Connor Prairie.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking, doll collecting, traveling and she was in a book study group at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her children, Mark Warren McClure (Cheri), Debra Ann McClure-Smith (Harrison), Malcolm David Harshman (Traci), and Suzy Mushalla (Joe). Grandchildren, Jay and Brian McClure, Ernie and Ollie Harshman, Helen, Ben, and Joe Mushalla; one great- grandchild, Luke McClure. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Lewis McClure and Joseph Phillip Harshman; one son, Kemp Robert Harshman; one brother, John Samuel Kemp, and her parents.
Friends and family will gather Monday, June 14, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, June 15 at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church starting at 4:30 p.m.
