Jan Elaine Hardy,

Indianapolis -
Jan Elaine Hardy, 58, departed this life on June 30, 2018. Jan was born November 27, 1959 in Washington, Indiana to the late Dale and Dorothy (Miles) Hardy. She was a 1978 graduate of Pike High School and 1982 graduate of Ball State University earning a Bachelor's of Science degree in secondary education. She was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority and an avid sports fan. Professionally, Jan worked as a staffing manager where she was dedicated to guiding and supporting whoever needed assistance in securing employment.

Her devotion to her family and friends was quite obvious on the weekends. She could always be found hanging out, having fun and making memories. She had a giving spirit using her time to help out a friend in need, attending special events, sharing in others joy, as well as spoiling her niece and nehew, just to name a few.

She is survived by her dear brother, Evan (LeAnn) Hardy, her adoring niece, Amanda (Grant) Galloway and her loving nephew, Aaron Hardy, as well as a host of grateful and caring friends, whom she considered her extended family. Jan found joy in her friends and family. She would want you to take the time to be with your family and friends and make a toast to enduring lifelong friendships.

A Celebration of Jan's Life will be Saturday, July 7 at Leppert Mortuary - Nora Chapel with visitation from 2:00 - 4:00 pm followed by a memorial service at 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jan's memory may be made to the Pike Education Foundation, 6901 Zionsville Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46268.

I'm so saddened by this news. Jan was a great lady. Always full of life and had lots of fun along the way. I met Jan right out of college when we both worked at Indiana National Bank in the Corporate Lending area. Over the years, I have ran into her and we seemed to pick up right where we left off each time. Evan - my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I know she cared deeply for her family. She will be missed.

I have known Jan close to 30 years. In those years she was true to who she was - fiercely loyal, determined, funny, smart, passionate, dedicated, deeply caring, the best friend you could ever ask for and a loving family member. I send white light for strength to Jan's family and her circle of friends - all of who will miss her presence in their lives but carry her always in their hearts. Jan was so full of life and spirit and today I will celebrate that life and how she touched mine.

I met Jan about 2 years ago at the Rusty Bucket. We had so many fun conversations and shared lots of laughs. I just saw her last Thursday evening at Rusty Bucket and was stunned to hear tonight that she has passed away. What a loving heart and spirit she had. I will miss her. Katie Steele

I have known Jan almost my whole life. She was my babysitter. She has been a big supporter of my music career and I always loved seeing her and catching up at performances. I will truly miss her.

I am so sorry to learn of Jan's passing. She helped me so much when "all the chips were down" by her devoted service thru Kelly (Sallie Mae) and taking a chance on me. I will never forget her! We would run into each other occasionally and catch up. She will be missed. To her family, I send my condolences and prayers, you are in my thoughts. Especially Evan, whom Jan was so proud of.

Dear Evan,
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Jan. I remember knowing Jan all of my life. Since I was friends with Tony and Victor, she was always like a big sister. We are so sorry for your loss. Jan was such a kind , loving, responsible girl. You had a wonderful sister. I'll never forget the time she did a poll for school as to whether you liked the Beatles or Elton John the best. She ran all over Candlelight village asking kids their opinions. She will be dearly missed. We are so sorry for your loss. May peace be with you.
Sincerely, Karen Thiel Herkless

CandleI worked with Jan at Kelly Services and she made me feel welcome from day one! I have read dozens of heart tugging post about how profoundly her friendship affected so many people in her short time on earth. She was truly the greatest example of how to live your life to make a positive impact on others, and she did with the greatest of ease as it just came naturally. She will be missed and never forgotten! My prayers for her family and friends as they work navigate their way through this tremendous loss!

Jan is someone I thought of often, with a smile. She was my first mentor at Manpower, and so kind and encouraging to help me learn the ropes. She will be missed!
