William "Bill" C. Crosby, 95, of Indianapolis, passed January 5, 2018. He was born September 3, 1922 in Trenton, N.J. to the late William and Clare (Getzinger) Crosby. Bill was veteran of the United States Army serving in North Africa and Italy in World War II and subsequently in the Korean War. Following his service, he moved to Indiana and graduated from Purdue University. He was employed by Eli Lilly and Co. in Indianapolis where he worked for 38 years as an engineer.
Bill was a member of the Masonic Center Lodge #23, a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, and a Noble of the Murat Shrine, and of the Moose Lodge #17. He was also a member of St. Luke Catholic Church.
Bill was interested in family history and studied his ancestry extensively. He was able to trace his roots to Limerick, Ireland and was very proud of this Irish connection. Everyone who knew Bill remembers that he referred to himself as "The Irishman." He collected his family records and wrote extensively about them.
He was also interested in historical films including his collection of old western movies, which he enjoyed watching.
Survivors include his children, Cheryl(Jim) Keating, Gordon(Janis) Becker, and Michael(Lori) Becker; grandchildren, Jennifer(Rob) Hyman, Jeremy(Laura) Long, Elisabeth(Seth) Ramsey, Joseph(Elizabeth) Becker, Matthew(Valerie) Becker, Natalie(Dave) Koett, and Hannah Becker; and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Becker Crosby in August, and brother, Fred Crosby.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at 11:30 AM at St. Luke Catholic Church, 7575 Holliday Drive East, Indianapolis IN. Visitation will be held also on Wednesday morning from 10:00 AM until time of Mass at the church. Entombment to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.
