Alies Williams, 87, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away at home September 29, 2017. Alies was born in Holly Springs, Mississippi June 11, 1930 to Robert Beard and Savannah Cheers.
She grew up in rural Mississippi with her two brothers and two sisters. She met and married Tyson Mathes. Through this union four children were born.
Alies moved to Indianapolis, Indiana looking for an opportunity. Upon arriving in Indianapolis, she met and soon married Charles Williams and through this union six children were born.
Alies loved God and family. Alies worked tirelessly to raise her children to be loving and forgiving people. "Big Momma" as Alies was affectionately called, would remind her children "you are a reflection of me". Alies enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, cooking, quilting, and shopping.
Alies was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and children, Earl Mathes, Lizze Mae Mathes, and Charles Williams, Jr.
Alies leaves to cherish her memories: sons, Charles Mathes, Joe Mathes, Milton Williams, Gerry Williams, James Williams, and David Williams; daughter Diana (John) Taylor; sister Flora Beard; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephew, relatives and friends.

A gathering will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 from 3-5 PM at Leppert Mortuary - Nora Chapel, 740 E. 86th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana.
